Good news for all Vijay fans. Vijay’s 51st film Kaavalan is all set to be released for this Diwali. As per sources Kaavalan is in the heels of completion and the producers are planning to release the film for this Diwali. Recently the scenes involving Vijay and Asin were shot in the campus of VIT College in Vellore. According to the sources, it has been revealed that filmmaker – producer Sakthi Chidambaram may acquire the rights of this film and release it under his banner of Cinema Paradise. Vidhyasagar has scored music for this film and his previous albums with Vijay (Thirumalai, Ghilli and Kuruvi) have been chartbusters. The film also features Raj Kiran and Roja in vital roles with Vadivelu taking care of comedy portions.

Vijay’s new film with Siddique has gone for a title change for the third time. When the film started had the MGR film title ‘Kaavalkaran’ hoping to cash in on the ever green popularity of MGR films. But when the original producers of the MGR movie Sathya Movies objected, the title was changed to ‘Kaaval Kaadhal’. But the second title did not find encouraging reactions from even among Vijay fans. So now the title has been again changed to ‘Kaavalan’. Another major development with the film according to sources is that director Shakthi Chidambaram has purchased the film lock stock and barrel including its negative rights. This sudden development has taken many by surprise. When most of the Tamil community is up in arms against the film because of Asin and the overseas business is in threat, Shakthi Chidambaram’s move is being viewed with mixed reaction.

The first thing is that the film’s title has been changed as ‘Kaavalan’, which looks more apt for the title and film’s theme as well. Naturally, it sounds like a word-to-word translation of Malayalam version ‘Bodyguard’. The other important news is about filmmaker-producer Sakthi Chidambaram of Cinema Paradise acquiring rights over the film. When approached the closer sources, they have mentioned that nothing can be confirmed now as the discussions are still on.

The title of Vijay’s forthcoming film, which is a remake of Malayalam hit ‘Bodyguard’, is not ‘Kaavalkaran’ as guessed by many. The movie directed by Siddique has been named ‘Kaaval Kaadhal’. And this has been confirmed by no lesser person than Asin, who is the heroine of the film. “A major portion of ‘Kaaval Kaadhal’ has been shot. I am happy about the shaping up of the movie,” she said. The actress, who is making a reentry into south Indian cinema with this 51st film of Vijay, added: “Siddique is a highly respected director and Vijay is a top hero. Working with them is no doubt a delight.” Meanwhile, it is said that the muhurat of the actor’s next project, tentatively titled ‘Velayudham’, will be held at the Madras University Centenary Auditorium on July 15. “Around 10,000 Vijay fans are expected to attend the mega event,” sources say. Produced by Aascar Ravichandran, ‘Velayudham’ will be directed by ‘Jayam’ Raja.

A Chennai court has asked the Crime Branch Police to submit a report after probing the allegations made by a petitioner on the remake rights of Vijay’s forthcoming film ‘ Kaavalkaran ’, directed by popular Malayalam director Siddique . In his petition, Johny Thomas of West Mambalam in Chennai has said that he had produced the Malayalam film ‘Bodyguard’ a couple of years ago and he was the actual owner of the film’s rights. “But without my knowledge, director Siddique is remaking the film in Tamil with Vijay playing the lead role. Since he has no legal rights to do so, the Court should order the police to register a case on him,” Johny Thomas said. When the case came up for hearing, the Eleventh Magistrate of Saidapet Court instructed the Crime Branch Police to conduct detail investigations on the allegations made by Johny Thomas and submit a report to the Court.

Kaavalkaran is the remake of Malayalam hit Bodyguard starring Dileep and Nayantara. Siddique (of Friends fame), who directed the original, is also directing the Tamil version. Bodyguard has a plot with plenty of comedy and action. The film also brings back Asin to Kollywood after a gap. “I will also be directing the Hindi version of Bodyguard with Salman Khan in the lead and his company is also producing it,” the director revealed.

The Vijay-Asin starrer, directed by Siddique and tentatively titled Kavalkaran, has started its second schedule at VIT campus in Vellore from May 16. The Vijay-Asin starrer Kavalkaran went on floors recently and shooting is going on in full swing in Karaikudi region in Tamil Nadu. Director Siddique has roped in several well-established actors and actresses to play important roles in the film. Earlier, Raj Kiran was signed up to play Asin’s dad in the film. The news now is that Roja will pair up with Raj Kiran to play the leading lady’s mom. This means, Raj Kiran and Roja will be Vijay’s parents-in-law in Kavalkaran.

The grapevine has it that Sanjay is making a cameo appearance as the son of the character played by Vijay in the climax of his under production Siddique directed Kavalkaran.
