Thyagarajan Refused to work with Vijay

Noted actor-director Thyagarajan played Nayan’s father in the Malayalam smash hit film Bodyguard. When director Siddique, who is directing the Tamil version of this film with Vijay in the lead, wanted Thyagarajan to play the same role but he refused it. Enquiries in Kollywood revealed that Thyagarajan is busy directing and producing Ponnar Shankar with his son Prashanth playing the lead role and hence decided not to take up the offer. Eventually, the role was bagged by Raj Kiran, who plays Asin’s dad in Kaavalkaran.

Salman Khan in Kavalkaran's Hindi Version

Kaavalkaran is the remake of Malayalam hit Bodyguard starring Dileep and Nayantara. Siddique (of Friends fame), who directed the original, is also directing the Tamil version. Bodyguard has a plot with plenty of comedy and action. The film also brings back Asin to Kollywood after a gap. “I will also be directing the Hindi version of Bodyguard with Salman Khan in the lead and his company is also producing it,” the director revealed.

Vijay was shown the preview of the movie along with his wife earlier and Vijay liked the script and immediately expressed his wish to remake it in Tamil. Body Guard is a romantic comedy and a family entertainer with sentiments too. Director Siddique says, “Actually when I narrated Bodyguard story to Vijay two years back he was very keen to do it first in Tamil, but I always try out my films in Malayalam then only I will do in other languages.” Siddique and Vijay worked together long back for their film Friends, which was also a Malayalam film in original. Vijay-Asin together again

Asin, who moved to Bollywood in 2008, is likely to make a comeback to Tamil cinema this year. She has reportedly been signed for the Vijay's movie which is the remake of Malayalam hit 'Bodyguard' starring Dileep and Nayantara. Sivaraju Venkatraju, who last made 'Priymanavale' with Vijay in 2000 will produce this new film. Siddique who directed the original will direct the Tamil version also. Siddique and Vijay combination earlier rocked in the comedy riot ‘Friends’. For Asin this film is a sort of comeback to Tamil. After her first Hindi film ‘Ghajini’ with Aamir Khan becoming super hit, her next film ‘London Dreams’ with Salman Khan bombed. So she is desperate to keep her top star status and image intact. But of course Asin never said she will not do a Tamil film after moving to Bollywood. Asin and Vijay pair was very successful with films like 'Pokkiri' and 'Sivakasi' doing wonders at the box office. Meanwhile, Vijay's 50th film 'Sura'...

Kaavalkaran title changed to Kaavalan

Vijay’s new film with Siddique has gone for a title change for the third time. When the film started had the MGR film title ‘Kaavalkaran’ hoping to cash in on the ever green popularity of MGR films. But when the original producers of the MGR movie Sathya Movies objected, the title was changed to ‘Kaaval Kaadhal’. But the second title did not find encouraging reactions from even among Vijay fans. So now the title has been again changed to ‘Kaavalan’. Another major development with the film according to sources is that director Shakthi Chidambaram has purchased the film lock stock and barrel including its negative rights. This sudden development has taken many by surprise. When most of the Tamil community is up in arms against the film because of Asin and the overseas business is in threat, Shakthi Chidambaram’s move is being viewed with mixed reaction.
